Preface
The knowledge of electrocardiography is becoming increasingly important because of the increased incidence of coronary heart disease, increased rate of diagnosis of acquired and con-genital heart diseases, and due to high incidence of functional heart disorders as the people are becoming more heart conscious.
This book describes the basic principles of electrocardiography and has been written both for the undergraduates and the practicising physicians; to the former it provides a comprehensive introduction and to the latter a synopsis and guide for further study.
A dogmatic approach has been adopted and discussion on controversial subjects have been avoided in order to provide the orthodox concepts. The cumbersome terminology has been simplified as far as possible. In the text reference has been made to clinical data for clinical correlation and the pathogenesis of electrocardiographic changes hasbeen briefly discussed. Electrocardiograms have been reproduced in the original size and continuous bibiliography includes references to important papers and recommended books.
